Continued from Creating a Conversation “For” the Job You Want

Spider Web-1

When your conversation “for” what you want in a job grows large enough, it will start to resemble a giant web made up of smaller, interrelated conversations.

If you’ve followed along this far in my series on manifesting a job you actually want, the notion of creating a network of interrelated conversations should be old news by now. Just in case the idea is still a little hazy, here’s something to think about…

Imagine that the network of conversations comprising your conversation “for” is something like a spider web. You have long lines representing individual conversations extending out from the center and reaching far into the distance.

These lines are like conversational pillars that provide support and structural stability for the whole network, and expand its size.

You also have shorter lines intersecting these pillars in concentric rings. These rings represent all the conversations taking place around you that relate to your vision, but do not directly involve you.

A conversation, for example, between an HR manager who has received your resume, and the HR manager’s supervisor. You are not directly involved in the conversation, but the conversation is a result of conversations you yourself have had, and relates directly to your vision.

While you can’t see or hear these conversations taking place, they make up the majority of the conversations that comprise the network. At the center of the web of course, is you, and your vision for the job you actually want.

As the size of the network expands, so does the potential for generating new professional opportunities.

The third step in manifesting a job you actually want is to measure each new opportunity against what you actually want, and follow the path that’s most aligned with your vision.

Before you can do that, however, you need to be aware of these new opportunities. You have to be able to see them in order to measure them.
