Elevating your income level requires a shift in perspective. You have to be on the lookout for opportunities to advance your financial position, and you have to practice relating to yourself as someone who’s worth more than you currently earn. You also have to practice asking for more.
One helpful exercise you can do is to spend time visualizing yourself earning some amount of money that you almost can’t even get your head around right now. Take 10 minutes to do this. Close your eyes. Imagine yourself at work. Imagine yourself moving seamlessly from client to client, doing the work you love.
Try to imagine how it feels. Look around you. What are you doing? You see that people around you are responding positively to your work. You feel good about the value of your services. You know that what you’re providing is extremely valuable.
Now, skip ahead and imagine yourself writing the invoice for the work you performed. Make this number large enough that you have to stretch to imagine yourself earning so much. Imagine receiving the payment from a satisfied client. Visualize their gratitude. What do they tell you that let’s you know how much they value you?
Doing this type of visualization retrains your subconscious mind to accept a different reality. The more you do it, the more easily you can wrap your head around the idea that you really are worth much more than you’ve ever realized, and that people really do want to pay you what you’re worth!
