Five Easy Ways to Boost Your Credit Score

It seems like everyone wants to know how to boost their credit scores quickly these days. Who am I to leave everyone wanting? Here are my top five, super-easy, uncomplicated and proven tips for improving your credit score. A few years ago, I used these very tips to boost my own credit score nearly 150 points over 12 months!

1. ALWAYS pay all of your bills BEFORE their due dates. Late payments, even every once in a while, will lower your score. Boosting your score requires consistently paying all of your bills early!




2. Pay down balances on revolving credit accounts. Low credit balances and high credit limits are interpreted by lenders as a sign of responsible credit management, which raises your score.




3. ALWAYS pay more than the minimum amount on revolving accounts.




4. NEVER let your credit balances exceed their limits. NEVER bounce checks or overdraw your accounts.




5. Check your credit report at least twice a year to monitor your progress and get detailed information about your credit profile.

Bonus Tip:

You may have noticed my usage of words like “ALWAYS” and “NEVER” in bold caps. There’s a reason for that. Improving your credit score is a long-term process. A lot of people fail to improve their credit profile simply because they don’t do what they know to do over a long enough period of time to see results.

Boosting your credit score requires consistent, responsible action, taken month after month, without any exception ever. The answers are all simple enough, but they won’t work without a consistent, disciplined approach.
